Welcome to The Carpetbagger
On-Line Shop!
Whether it is an authentic reproduction or a modern
adaptation, each piece is an example of hand-made, quality
craftsmanship. Customers from each state and 13 foreign
countries have bought these one-of-a-kind treasures.

Pieces made by The Carpetbagger have been featured in several
movies. They appeared in period pieces like “Tombstone,”
“Gettysburg,” and “Amistad.” The stars in “Queen” and “The Love
Letter,” a Hallmark Hall of Fame special, and, most recently,
“Bewitched,” also carried Carpetbagger bags.
Located overtop L.B.’s Shoe Repair in historic downtown
Woodstock, The Carpetbagger creates reproduction carpetbags and
travel bags that are a favorite of Civil War re-enactors. You
must come in the shoe shop to get to The Carpetbagger store
upstairs. The Carpetbagger is located at 140 West Court Street,
just up the street from the oldest courthouse still in use west
of the Blue Ridge – originally built in 1791 and a Virginia
Historic Landmark that is on the National Register of Historic
Places. Civil War buffs know the Northern Shenandoah Valley of
Virginia well as the location of many key battles in the War
Between the States.
These
carpetbags are available in a
